Rare Protocol Substack Weekly Update: Nov 17
Rare Perks: Everyone with a Community Pool has been allowlisted for a Lens handle, and users now have access to more Bello Insights!
Imagine your home is actually a collection of half-homes; some parts on the same block, others purchased in different currencies on different continents. Your living room is in Manhattan but the kitchen is in Secaucus, and, frustratingly, they can only deliver that dope new massage chair to your vault in Zurich. It’s a mess.
This is life in web3, where the creator economy exploded into a vibrant network with artists minting across countless different platforms, smart contracts and blockchains. The result is a spaghetti map of addresses obscuring even the most prominent of artists and collectors.
What this space needs is a comprehensive registry that ties all this activity back to each creator–a source of truth that provides data, insights, and asset verification – one that invites further exploration into the cryptoart rabbit hole.
This is the problem Rare Protocol aims to solve, but to do so it is essential we work hand in hand with the RareDAO. With this in mind, today we published a Request For Comment on the RareDAO forum proposing that, together, our efforts should focus on building an open, decentralized discovery and authenticity system that does not exploit user data to feed a faceless algorithm, but instead uses the network effects afforded by large social graphs to amplify the role of real humans in curating the content they consume and create.
Read our DAO Request for Comment, Expanding The RareDAO Vision here and, please, contribute your thoughts. Together, for the first time in history, we can make the internet truly work for creators.

We’ve got some Rare Perks for stakers on Rare Protocol this week 🎁
Up First → Lens Allowlist
Anyone with a Community Pool on Rare Protocol has been allowlisted to claim a handle on Lens! This means that if a pool has been opened for any of your ETH addresses, you can skip the waitlist to join the biggest social media layer in web3.
Built on Polygon by the Aave team, Lens is a decentralized social media network that enables users to have more control over their content and data - an antidote to traditional social media giants, Meta and Twitter, where users have little control over the info they offer up.
Just this week Lens launched V2, a big update that offers users more autonomy over their experience and additional monetization features. Read more about it here.
