Rare Protocol Weekly Update: Dec 19
Rare.xyz site redesign, RareDAO council elections, community callouts, and emerging pools!
If you’ve been on crypto Twitter recently, you’ve likely seen the heated debate between Ethereum and Solana filling the timeline. Artists, collectors, and builders alike are weighing the efficiency, lower fees, and hype of Solana against the legacy and adoption of Ethereum. But what if it isn’t a debate of one over the other? What if it could be a “yes, and…” situation?
As it stands, the onchain art market is siloed across different blockchains, platforms, minting addresses, and contracts. For this market to scale to its full potential, the space requires a unified source of truth that ties these pieces of information back to each creator. This will enable us to draw on the strengths of the industry instead of working in opposition to one another.
Powerful, unified, efficient, and empowering - this is the future we are building at Rare Protocol.
And now for this week’s update!

Rare.xyz Site Redesign
The Rare Protocol Product Team has been hard at work behind the scenes on a redesign of the Rare.xyz site. It’s mobile friendly. It’s visually forward. It’s efficient. It’s easy to use. And… it’s live.
Looking to post the pool of people who support you on Rare Protocol to social media? Or perhaps, you want to share the list of artists and collectors you support with others. Now you can, quite simply at the click of a button.
In addition to a more intuitive interface, this redesign makes it easier to share Rare Protocol profiles, and it lays the groundwork to increase efficiency on delivering new features going forward. With this update up and running, the team will be doubling down on developing a solution for the high gas fees for staking. All this to say that, this is just the beginning - you can expect more on this soon.
Many of these updates were made possible thanks to feedback from our earlier users. As one of Rare Protocol’s early supporters, we appreciate you immensely. Our team is keen to continue hearing your feedback to ensure that we are constantly improving. Feel free to hit us up in the Rare Protocol Discord with suggestions any time.
January 2024: RareDAO Council Elections
Council elections for RareDAO begin mid-January!
RareDAO’s future needs motivated council members who understand the opportunity in the challenge before us: through collective intelligence building onchain, we can, for the first time in history, make the internet truly work for creators.
The future for RareDAO is much bigger than SuperRare alone. It’s bigger than Rare Protocol. It is a mission to unlock the true potential of this ecosystem. We need council leaders with the courage to seize it.
The existing council has generously served on an entirely volunteer basis for over two years, attending monthly meetings, contributing to the SIP process, and hopping on countless sidebar and one-on-one calls. We need candidates who believe in this community’s untapped potential deep down, who believe this inspired group of artists and technologists has the collective intelligence to transform the art world, and believe in their own potential to lead us down that road.
If this sounds like you, stay tuned for more details about the election process this January!
Emerging Pools
Federicoclapis renders the depths of our psyche in sculpted parables. In his works, jade glows like the blue light from a screen, black mirror devices are made of marble, and an all too familiar loneliness sets in. Federico also has a compelling Curated List of his own … artists really do have the best signal on emerging talent, after all.
