Rare Protocol Weekly Update: Oct 27
A walkthrough of Curated Feeds: a new way to discover art through Curation Staking; community callouts; emerging pools
Along with the promise of a better, fairer and more equitable future for artists, the advent of NFTs helped empower creators with a new, revolutionary avenue for the ownership and sale of digital art. As adoption became more widespread, however, many of the issues faced in the traditional art world were replicated in web3 - siloed curation and gatekeeping at the top of the list.
Rare Protocol exists to unlock the potential of the web3 creator economy by offering artists and collectors an open, permissionless curation system we can all participate in.
Here are the latest updates from our journey:
Community Callouts
Stani, Founder of Lens and Aave, hit Twitter with one of Rare Protocol’s biggest value props
Reward activity has been picking up on Rare Protocol
Paper Buddha shared their trending pool
Ben White was busy staking and exploring radar.rare.xyz
Keegan Ead shared a video of the app’s brand new Curated Feeds
We had an AMA on Curation Staking last week - listen back to it here
Building in the Open
This week’s update was small but mighty! The team made enhancements to Curated Feeds and the Curated List table, adding the ability to sort and search.
Feeds bring a layer of discovery to Rare Protocol, with staking as the driving algorithm. If you’ve staked in at least 10 Community Pools, you now have a feed curated by your activity, showing art from those you've staked on.
Browse all feeds by navigating to the Curated Lists tab on the homepage – or, get busy sharing your own!
Curation staking is a way to signal your sense of taste onchain. Now, feeds make that visually explorable.
Emerging Pools
Hasan Göktepe is a 3D Environment and Voxel Artist. With a perspective that makes the viewer feel as though they are entering the piece from above, this artwork incorporates autumnal colors and architecture to transport the viewer to a temple in Babylon. This Community Pool was opened by Hasan Göktepe himself, and the first staker was Antxx.
